Which foods are rich in magnesium?

Unprocessed grains and nuts have the highest magnesium nutrient density, ranging from 200 to 800 mg of magnesium per 100 g product. Other good sources of magnesium are legumes and green leafy vegetables, because of their chlorophyll content. Seafood, chocolate and cocoa are also good sources of magnesium.

Do magnesium and calcium affect when taken simultaneously?

Both magnesium and calcium are required for a variety of purposes in our body. With regard to the absorption in the intestines, the two substances can interfere with each other when taken in high concentrations (e.g. 300 mg of magnesium and 1000 mg of calcium).
It is therefore recommended that the administration of large doses of magnesium and calcium should be separated by at least 2 to 3 hours (e.g. to take calcium in the morning and magnesium in the evening).

Is Biolectra Magnesium Direct® okay to take for stiff cramped legs while pregnant?

Although magnesium oxide has been approved by the FDA as a magnesium supplement during pregnancy, pregnant women should generally consult their doctors before taking it.

Is magnesium important for diabetics?

Due to the elevated blood-sugar level in diabetics, the elimination of urine is increased, which results in magnesium losses. Magnesium plays an important role on the effect of the blood sugar regulating insulin. It is therefore particularly important for diabetics to have an adequate magnesium supply.

Should an active sportsman take Biolectra Magnesium Direct®?

Particularly during sports activities, magnesium is excreted to an increased extent in the sweat. It is therefore important for those engaging in sports activities to compensate for the loss of magnesium during the regeneration phase and meet the increased sports-related need for magnesium (5 mg magnesium/kg body weight). Typical magnesium deficiency symptoms are neuromuscular hyperexcitability with more frequently occurring muscle twitching and cramps as well as an increased susceptibility to muscular tension, pulled muscles, and torn muscle fibres. Magnesium losses should therefore be compensated for during the regeneration phase. Due to the mildly relaxant and sometimes also stool-softening effect, the taking of large doses of magnesium before sporting activities can sometimes impair physical performance.

Is Biolectra Magnesium Direct® gluten-free?

Yes, it is.

Is Biolectra Magnesium Direct® lactose-free?

Yes, it is.

1-Is magnesium supplementation safe?

Magnesium is a “safer” product than calcium because it is excreted more completely and doesn’t build up in the body. You should not take magnesium if you have kidney disease. Always consult your doctor before beginning any supplementation.

2- What are magnesium's overall functions in the body?

“Magnesium’s hundreds of activities in the human body can be divided into five essential categories:
1. Magnesium is a cofactor assisting enzymes in catalyzing most chemical reactions in the body, including temperature regulation.
2. Magnesium produces and transports energy.
3. Magnesium is necessary for the synthesis of protein.
4. Magnesium helps to transmit nerve signals.
5. Magnesium helps to relax muscles.
COFACTOR IN CHEMICAL REACTIONS
“Enzymes are protein molecules that stimulate every chemical reaction in the body. Magnesium is required to make hundreds of these enzymes work and assists with thousands of others.

3- Is magnesium supplementation safe?

Magnesium is a “safe” product than calcium because it is excreted more completely and doesn’t build up in the body. You should not take magnesium if you have kidney disease. Always consult your doctor before beginning any supplementation.

4- Can I get the magnesium I need from food?

It is increasingly difficult to get the magnesium we need from food alone.  Health Canada reports that there are only 2 nutrient requirements that cannot be met by diet and magnesium is one of them:    “Many Adults have inadequate intakes of magnesium and Vitamin A.”
