    Overview

    Stratamed is a breakthrough treatment that can be used on non epithelialized wounds and compromised skin, which allows prevention of abnormal scarring to begin earlier than ever before.
    Other self-drying silicone products can only be used after a wound has healed. This often delays the treatment start, as the complete epithelialization may take several weeks. With Stratamed, physicians and patients are now able to begin their scar management therapy sooner than ever before, which significantly reduces the likelihood and severity of abnormal scarring.

    Uses

    Stratamed is used for the prevention of abnormal scarring as well as for the treatment of keloids and hypertrophic scars . Because Stratamed can be applied to open wounds and areas where skin integrity has been compromised, it extends the area of application for  silicone-based scar prevention and treatment. For example, Stratamed can  be used directly on fresh wounds or burns under a secondary dressing or immediately after dermabrasion, laser treatment or cryosurgery. Stratamed can also be used in conjunction with invasive scar management options to improve overall results, including surgical excision, or intral-esional steroid injections.Stratamed was developed for the use on many different types of wounds/scars including those resulting from

    Side Effects

    There have been no side effects observed with the proper use of  Stratamed gel. It is not absorbed, so will not produce systemic side  effects, and it is unlikely to produce local side effects. Stratamed does not lead to secondary side effects such as maceration,  rashes, pruritus and infection and is therefore suitable for people with  sensitive skin and for children. Stratamed is safe to use on infants, during pregnancy and whilst breast-feeding. The ingredients in Stratamed gel are completely compatible with  human biology. Stratamed gel is transparent and 100 % odor free.

    Dosing

    The usage of Stratamed does not require changes in any existing wound care protocol . It is a simple addition to your usual process but with great effects .
    First ensure that the affected skin or wound is clean. Pat dry as much excess exudate or wound fluid from the wound as possible prior to the application of Stratamed.For best results Stratamed should be maintained in continuous contact with the skin (24 hours/day). When applied correctly to exposed areas, Stratamed should be dry in 5–6 minutes . If it takes longer to dry you have probably applied too much. Gently remove the excess with a clean tissue or gauze and allow the drying process to continue.

    Duration of treatment

    Stratamed is recommended as minimum treatment of 60–90 days (24/7). Larger and older scars may take longer. Continued use is recommended  until no further improvement is seen.Because Stratameds action is to regulate or mature the scar tissue,   once treatment has been completed, the scar will not become active again unless it is further stimulated by external factors
