Overview

Strataderm® is available in over 38 countries in Europe, Africa, North America and Asia.
Strataderm is a rapidly drying, non-sticky, transparent, silicone gel formulation for the treatment of both old and new scars as well as abnormal scar prevention, in the form of hypertrophic scars and keloids . Strataderm dries to form a silicone gel sheet, a protective layer that is gas permeable and waterproof which hydrates and protects scars from chemical and microbial invasion, allowing scars to normalize the collagen synthesis cycles, producing a normal mature scar. Strataderm is used to soften and flatten scars, relieve the itching and discomfort of scars as well as reduce redness and discoloration associated with scars. Strataderm is easily applied to all areas of the skin, including exposed areas like the face and neck as well as joints and hairy areas without the need for shaving. Strataderm is ideal for people with sensitive skin and for children.

Uses

Strataderm is used for the prevention and treatment of Keloids and Hypertrophic scars – old and new .
Strataderm was developed for use on all types of scars including those resulting from:
• General surgery
• Trauma
• Chronic wounds
• Burns
• Bites
• Acne and other diseases of the skin.
Strataderm can also be used in conjunction with other invasive scar management options to improve overall results, including surgical excision and resuturing, intralesional injections and pressure garments.
Strataderm is suitable for children or people with sensitive skin as it contains no active ingredients, is completely biocompatible and safe when used as directed.

How to Use Strataderm

Strataderm is most effective on active scars or scars that show symptoms of:
• Redness (increased vascularity)
• Itchiness or pain
• Scars that are hard, raised or contracted Strataderm can be used on old or new scars .
• Ensure that the scar is clean and dry.
• Apply a very thin layer of Strataderm to the scar and allow to dry.
• Strataderm should be applied once daily, or twice daily to exposed areas or as advised by your physician.
• For best results Strataderm should be maintained in continuous contact with the skin (24 hrs day).
• Once dry, Strataderm can be covered by sunscreen, cosmetics, pressure garments or casts.
When applied correctly, Strataderm should be dry in 3–4 minutes. If it takes longer to dry you have probably applied too much. Gently remove the excess with a tissue and allow the drying process to continue.

Side Effects

There have been no side effects observed with the proper use of Strataderm gel. It is not absorbed, so will not produce systemic side effects, and it is unlikely to produce local side effects.

Strataderm does not lead to secondary side effects such as maceration, rashes, pruritus and infection and is therefore suitable for people with sensitive skin and for children.

The ingredients in Strataderm gel are completely compatible with human biology.

Strataderm gel is transparent and 100 % odor free.

Duration of Treatment
Strataderm is recommended as minimum treatment of 60–90 days (24/7). Larger and older scars may take longer. Continued use is recommended until no further improvement is seen.

FAQ

1-After applying Strataderm to my scar, the gel does not dry within the recommended time. What is the reason for this?

When applied correctly, Strataderm should be dry in 3-4 minutes. If it takes longer to dry you have probably applied too much. Gently remove the excess with a tissue and allow the drying process to continue.

2- For which types of scars is Strataderm indicated?

4- Can Strataderm be used for burn scars?

Yes. Severe burns commonly cause hypertrophic scars, for which Strataderm is very well indicated. Strataderm should not be used on broken skin/open wounds.

5- How long will it take for my scar to improve?

Strataderm is recommended as minimum treatment of 60–90 days (24 hours/every day). Larger and older scars may take longer. Continued use is recommended until no further improvement is seen.
